Learning English: Greet Everyone in English
As you go through you day your will interact with a lot of people in your native language. This is comfortable for you, but the simple act of greeting people in English will help you to find other English learners. The more people you find who are learning English, the more people you will have to practice with.
When you are learning English, it is important to find other people to practice with, and this is one method that you can use to find other English speakers.
But I Am Shy!
For instance, saying hello in English to the cashier at the grocery store will eventually help you find another person who is also in the process of learning English. From then on, you can practice a bit of English with them every time they are your checkout person.
I know that this can be a little bit hard to do. Sometimes you might be shy, and it is hard to have the courage to speak English with a complete stranger. It is best to set a goal. Say to yourself, “Today I will greet at least one person in English.” and see how it goes.
You can do it! I know you can!
This Is Embarrasing!
Yes. It can be. But let’s consider the alternative: If you never try to speak English, you will never get any practice. Practicing the language on a daily basis is key to becoming fluent. Even 10 minutes a day of small conversations can add up over time to real learning. Again, you can do it, I know you can!
I Did It!
Congratulations! You are well on your way to becoming fluent in English. Way to go! Now make sure you keep it up!
